Community Kitchen Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate community kitchen services, meal programs, food-related supports, and event food service in alignment with community needs and Nation priorities.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, meal service, cleaning routines, food storage, equipment use, and workflow.
- Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and support kitchen staff, casual staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure reliable, respectful, and accountable service delivery.
- Maintain safe food handling, sanitation, allergen awareness, temperature control, cleaning, labelling, and recordkeeping practices in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Coordinate food service needs for community meals, meetings, cultural gatherings, celebrations, wellness programming, and special initiatives.
- Monitor inventory, prepare supply orders, coordinate purchasing, track food costs, reduce waste, and support budget planning and reporting.
- Track meal counts, participation, supplies, service needs, feedback, incidents, repairs, and operational concerns to support reporting and continuous improvement.
- Build respectful relationships with community members, Elders, youth, families, staff, departments, vendors, volunteers, and partner organizations.
- Uphold confidentiality, cultural safety, respectful communication, safe work practices, and organizational policies at all times.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma, or Degree, in Business Administration, Food Service Management, Hospitality, Community Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of experience in kitchen operations, food service, catering, community meals, or related programming.
- Supervisory experience, including scheduling, training, coaching, and supporting staff performance.
- Valid FOODSAFE Level 1 required; FOODSAFE Level 2 or equivalent supervisory food safety training is an asset. (Or willing to obtain Food safe level 2 within 6 months of employment)
- Experience working within Indigenous communities or community-based organizations is strongly preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
