Memo and Update to SȾÁUTW̱ Members
RE: W̱SÁNEĆ Clinic
This change reflects the ongoing request and advocacy for health resources to be returned to our neighboring W̱SÁNEĆ communities of Pauquachin, Tsartlip, and Tseycum.
SȾÁUTW̱ and Island Health are honoring this direction and supporting the return of services closer to those communities.
We recognize the importance of accessible, community-based health services throughout W̱SÁNEĆ territory. SȾÁUTW̱ has temporarily hosted the W̱SÁNEĆ Clinic for the past three years, and we appreciate the collaboration of Island Health and our neighboring communities throughout this time.
What does this mean for SȾÁUTW̱ members and their care?
- SȾÁUTW̱ members and community members will continue to access Nurse Practitioner and nursing appointments through the SȾÁUTW̱ Health Department.
- We kindly ask for patience and understanding while SȾÁUTW̱ awaits confirmation from Island Health regarding the allocation of resources, including the days our Nurse Practitioner and nurses will be assigned to work in SȾÁUTW̱.
- Once a schedule is received from Island Health, it will be shared with the community as soon as possible.
- SȾÁUTW̱-employed Medical Office Assistants will remain at SȾÁUTW̱ and will continue to support SȾÁUTW̱ patient information and upcoming appointment schedules.
- Some office moves and space adjustments may take place so SȾÁUTW̱ staff can better serve members and collaborate on care. Minor delays may occur during this transition.
SȾÁUTW̱ remains committed to supporting members’ access to health care and to working respectfully with Island Health and our neighboring W̱SÁNEĆ communities during this transition.
